The Point Reyes lighthouse is located in the state of California, right exactly in Marin County. Its original construction was first delayed for a total of 15 years. It has a tower that measures about 37 feet and it is a twin lighthouse of Cape Mendocino Lighthouse. It was first lit last 1870 and electricity came in for it way back in 1938. Its steps were built into concrete the following year. It became automated by 1975.

It became most popular when it was used for the shooting location of the John Carpenter movie called The Fog. It was also included in the National Register of Historic Places by 1991. It is during the weekends of the summer season when it gets to be visited by a lot of visitors that even count up to a hundred. One of the duties of those assigned in the lighthouse is to accompany the visitors aboard.
