The St. Augustine Lighthouse

A view of the front of the St. Augustine Lighthouse in Florida.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse was first created by the settlers from Spain during the late 1600s. But by 1824, it became an official US lighthouse located in one of the ancient cities in North America. Now, it is considered as haunted and its original light was replaced since it was lost caused by some erosion due to the tides. It has one well noted tragedy in its history: it was when the lighthouse keeper fell off while painting it.

From then on, when you get to attend tours to the lighthouse, there are stories that the presence of his ghost was still continuously seen there. But aside from this tragic story, there are still lots of other tragic stories behind the lighthouse that may be the reason for it being haunted. There were even creepy stories that you would hear footsteps down it following the rounds of the present keepers.
