Texas Lighthouses

Texas Lighthouses

Of all the many things that the state of Texas is known and famous for, the last thing to likely to come to the minds of most people’s mind are lighthouses. As one of the largest states in the USA, and having a history that dates back many centuries… many times people forget to ask the question: “How many lighthouses are in the state of Texas?” One reason this is likely the case is due to the fact that so many fail to realize how important the coastline of this state really is. One thing that helps people to understand appreciate how important it is to protect sea vessels docking at this state is actually taking a boat ride some miles from the shore and then one will see what seems to be an endless amount of oil rigs that of course pumps out and deliver this precious natural resource back to the land.

For those of us who are well aware of the fact that the state has it’s own historical lighthouses that are to be reckoned with, enjoy the list of Texas light stations we have listed down below. Unfortunately we will not be able to provide pictures for many of the lighthouses that were at one time standing in the state, due to the fact that many of them have been destroyed as a result of harsh weather conditions in the area. This does not mean that we will not list the light stations that at present have no images of the light station, or the remains; but instead we will try to provide as much detailed information as possible about the historic aspect of each individual lighthouse. With that said, take your time going through this area of the site and be sure to contact us to give us any updated information or ask questions that you may have.
